BWA Executive Committee Resolution 1968-08.7

Whereas, the Executive Committee of the Baptist World Alliance has had a most enjoyable and profitable meeting in Liberia, July 30-August 1, 1968, and

Whereas, the President and people of Liberia have shown us every kind-ness and courtesy,

Be it therefore resolved that we declare our appreciation for President and Mrs. William V. S. Tubman and the other Officers of State in Liberia who have joined heartily in entertaining the Executive Committee of the Baptist World Alliance, and

That we express our deepest gratitude to Dr. William R. Tolbert, Jr., President of the Baptist World Alliance, Vice President of Liberia, and Presi-dent of the Liberia Baptist Missionary and Educational Convention, and Mrs. Tolbert for being the perfect host and hostess, and

That we extend our thanks to the Liberia Baptist Missionary and Educa-tional Convention for its warm hospitality and unstinting service beyond all of our expectations, and

That we avow our gratitude for the Administration and Staff of Ricks Institute who served so faithfully as the host institution for the meeting of the Executive Committee, and

That we voice our sincere appreciation to the radio, television, and news- papers in Liberia for their splendid coverage of the work of our Committee, and

That we express our love and pledge our continuing prayers for Liberia and her wonderful people.

After the reading of this resolution there was prolonged applause. Payne stated that obviously a vote was not needed and declared the resolution passed by common consent and acclamation.

President Tolbert responded by indicating the joy of Liberian Baptists in having the BWA Executive Committee meet in Monrovia and their pleasure that the Committee had accepted what they endeavored to offer and considered it what the members desired. They had tried to share what they have. God has been gracious and blessed the efforts. He expressed the hope that in the future they may again serve as hosts to the Committee, and that in the years to come they may be host to the Congress of the Baptist World Alliance. (Applause).
