(FALLS CHURCH, VIRGINIA – June 23, 2026) Following a global search, the Baptist World Alliance (BWA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Jeff Peck as its new Director of Communications and Media. Peck brings more than two decades of experience in strategic communications and marketing to the role.

Peck joins the BWA following a distinguished career leading communications initiatives across government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and private-sector institutions. In each place of service, Peck has demonstrated a commitment to mission-driven communications.

His leadership roles have included serving as Director of Marketing and Communications for Prison Fellowship, Director of Internal Communications for Alliance Defending Freedom, and Executive Director of Christ Together Greater Austin, where he helped mobilize churches and ministry leaders for collaborative kingdom impact. Peck also served as Chief Communications Officer for Texas Health and Human Services, where he directed enterprise communications for the 54,000-employee agency and led major initiatives to strengthen stakeholder engagement, unify organizational messaging, and expand public awareness.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jeff Peck to the Baptist World Alliance team,” said BWA General Secretary and CEO Elijah M. Brown. “Jeff brings a unique combination of strategic vision, communications expertise, and ministry-minded leadership to this role. His experience building effective communications systems and telling compelling stories will help strengthen connections across our global Baptist family and advance our shared mission to impact the world for Christ.”

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Peck holds both a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a Master of International Journalism from Baylor University. He is also the co-author of Stories of Faith and Courage from Prison.

As Director of Communications and Media, Peck will work closely with the BWA General Secretary to develop and guide the BWA communications and media strategy and its implementation across all ministry areas and platforms. He will serve as a strategic storyteller, brand steward, and digital innovator – ensuring BWA’s message is communicated clearly, creatively, and compellingly across diverse audiences and cultures.

“BWA is a vital institution for kingdom-building work globally. God is always inviting us to trust him more and grow into his plans, which he prepared for his followers to enjoy,” said Peck. “It is scary, difficult, surprising, and worth every effort to see the love and grace of God and his Gospel continue to unfold in history. I view it as my calling to do my part through communications.”

Peck will be based at the BWA Global Mission Center in Falls Church, Virginia (USA), and will attend the upcoming 2026 BWA Annual Gathering in Toronto, Canada, where he will begin engaging with Baptist leaders from around the world before officially assuming leadership of the department on July 20, 2026.

Peck follows Merritt Johnston who has served as BWA Director of Communications and Media since 2019. On August 1, Johnston will begin serving full time as BWA Women Executive Director.
