Ukraine’s Need Continues — So Must Our Support

Standing with Ukraine

Responding to Ongoing Needs

The global Baptist family has faithfully supported and served alongside the member union in Ukraine (All-Ukrainian Union of Associations of Evangelical Christian-Baptists) since the war began in 2022. As the largest Protestant group in Ukraine, the network of more than 2,000 Baptist churches has been a vital source of practical and spiritual care for thousands impacted by the ongoing conflict and violence.

In collaboration with Baptists on the ground, the global Baptist family has collectively helped more than 2 million people including with temporary shelter, food, and medical care with direct BWAid investment totaling over $5 million. The BWA has provided 10,000 Bibles, pastoral support, worked closely to encourage strengthened religious freedom regulations and support for the persecuted, and provided ongoing advocacy that included meetings with Presidents, Prime Ministers, and many other government leaders. BWA General Secretary Brown was the first leader of a Christian Worldwide Communion to visit Ukraine after the renewal of the full-scale war and has returned numerous times along with other BWA team members to provide prayer and support, earning national recognition by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in August 2025.

Over the last year, our sisters and brothers have continued to serve in life-changing ways – including providing a total of 24,374 hot meals through mobile kitchens and hosting 67 children’s camps across 21 regions that reached 3,819 children.

Together we have made a significant impact, but the need is still great.

3.7 million people remain displaced. Violence and destruction continue to impact homes and lives.

Your continued prayers and support are vital.

Baptists Recognized by Ukrainian President

A Special Honor

On Sunday, August during a special Independence Day ceremony in Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy honored Baptist leadership for their support in the midst of war.

Baptist World Alliance General Secretary Elijah Brown received the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, 5th Class, and European Baptist Federation General Secretary Alan Donaldson received the Order of Merit, 3rd Class.

“It was a humbling experience to attend the ceremony and to receive this honor on behalf of the Baptist World Alliance. This recognition is a reflection of the tireless dedication and courageous service of Ukrainian Baptists on the front lines as well as the unwavering support of the entire global Baptist family,” said Brown. “To receive such an honor in the midst of war is also a poignant reminder that much remains to be done. May we all continue to work together for lasting and just peace in Ukraine and around the world.”
