FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(FALLS CHURCH, VIRGINIA – May 7, 2021) Baptists worldwide are invited to join together this month in celebrating Baptist World Alliance (BWA) Global Impact Month. Formerly known as BWA Day, this strategic time of prayer, celebration, and action provides an opportunity to focus on how the Lord is working through the BWA’s global Baptist network.

Each week throughout the month of May, the BWA will share updates centered on one of the ministry’s five core ministry areas, including a variety of resources to utilize within churches, ministries, unions, and conventions. In remembrance of how the Spirit moved at Pentecost, Baptists are invited to set aside a time during May to focus on the mission and vision of the BWA. Whether during a worship service, Bible study, mission meeting, or other setting, it is an opportunity for the global Baptist family to stand together.

“This continues to be a critical time for our world,” said Elijah Brown, BWA General Secretary. “As we approach Pentecost, we celebrate that God’s Spirit is still at work. We invite Baptists worldwide to join us both in celebrating what the Lord has done and asking God to powerfully pour out his Spirit among us.”

Participants are also encouraged to share their Global Impact Day experiences with the global Baptist family. Email pictures from your celebration or post on social media with the tag #BWAGlobalImpact.

“Distance may continue to separate us but our common faith and mission unite us,” said Merritt Johnston, BWA Prayer Coordinator and Director of Communications and Media. “It is our prayer that we see Pentecost power at work through us this May and that the impact changes our homes, churches, and communities for God’s glory and the good of the world.”
