The Baptist Youth World Day of Prayer will be observed on June 8.

Churches are encouraged to plan worship services and events that include the participation of youth and reflect the importance of youth being engaged in prayer, worship and the mission ofBaptist Youth World Day of Prayer on June 8 the church.

A resource guide, based on Romans 12:1-2 and which includes five Bible studies, is available on the website of the Baptist World Alliance at www.bwanet.org.  Churches and youth groups are encouraged to follow the guide, which is available in several languages, through the rest of this year.

Bible Study emphases are drawn from the Singapore Declaration, the final communique of the 16th Baptist Youth World Conference held in Singapore in July 2013. The declaration encouraged youth to “be part of the change we desire to see in this world…that is broken [and which] cries out for justice, freedom, peace, hope and love.”

Baptist youth throughout the world are urged to be “Gospel people” through their giving and openness to God’s mission; to speak out by “giving voice to those on the margins, offering hope to the oppressed, the rejected and the victims of evil in our world;” to engage in prophetic action and evangelism; and to live the gospel by displaying the love of God and practicing hospitality.

“There are many struggles in our lives as young people,” said Amanda Haynes, president of the BWA Youth Department. “Our prayers to God can make a difference, not only in our own lives, but also in the lives of other young people around the world.”

Youth are encouraged to connect on social media via Twitter or Facebook by using the handle @BWAYouth and the hashtag #YouthPrayer14; share and re-tweet posts; submit prayer requests and share photographs and short reports from their own Youth World Day of Prayer gatherings.

Additional information is available on the BWA website.
