BWA World Congress Resolution 1995.4

The General Council and 17th World Congress of the Baptist World Alliance, meeting in Buenos Aires, Argentina, July 31-August 6, 1995,

GIVES THANKS to God for all those who have worked in partnership with Baptist World Aid in 75 years of caring;

ENCOURAGES increased involvement in Baptist World Aid by all member bodies of the Alliance so that by collaborative action Baptists provide holistic ministry in the light of the Biblical mandate to act justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with God;

RECOGNIZES that though much has been done in empowering and resourcing aid and development projects, the task is unfinished as drought, famine, poverty and disease continue to ravage the nations of the south and not least in Latin America;

RECALLS the resolution of the General Council in Harare, Zimbabwe in 1993 to encourage every Baptist Christian to give at least 1% of their income to world development;

CALLS Baptists worldwide to increased activity, a program of development education, sacrificial giving and a greater sharing of spiritual and financial resources through Baptist World Aid.
