On March 24, BWA General Secretary Callam preached at the Hope Valley Baptist Church, Durham, NC, a BWA Global Impact Church. He challenged the gathering to wholehearted engagement with the BWA in its effort to fulfill the Great Commission.

Tom Jackson, former pastor of McLean Baptist Church in Virginia, is the interim pastor at Hope Valley Baptist. A friend of the BWA, Jackson was pastor of former BWA General Secretary, Gerhard Claas and former BWA Assistant General Secretary, Tony Cupit.

Jackson is author of the hymn, “We are called to be God’s people,” which is sung by Christians all over the world.

While Callam visited the Durham area, Jackson gathered a number of significant Baptist leaders in the area for a time of fellowship with the BWA General Secretary. Callam has described the meeting as a time of meaningful and constructive engagement.
