BWA Executive Committee Resolution 1969-08.3

(Presented by Bullen)

Whereas die Executive Committee of the Baptist World Alliance is composed of members from Conventions and Unions of 68 countries in which a variety of opinions and policies are currently held, we thank God for the universal fellowship and brotherhood evident in the associations of the Baptist World Alli- ance, and

Whereas it has been impossible for some of our colleagues to attend the current sessions of the Executive Committee of the Baptist World Alliance,

Be it Resolved that we record our regret at their absence and request the Baptist World Alliance staff to express our concern whenever it is appropriate, further, that we request President W. R. Tolbert to send the following messages on our behalf.

To: Sr. Manuel Salom, Sr. Marino Santos

We, your fellow Baptists from many countries of the world, are meeting here in Baden bei Wien, Austria, for the Annual Executive meeting of the Baptist World Alliance. We send to you and to all the members of your Conventions our hearty greetings in the fellowship and spirit of Jesus Christ and we greatly regret that you are not able to join with us.

To: Dr. Corneado, Department of Religion and Cult, Havana, Cuba.

Baptists from many countries of the world are meeting here in Baden bei Wien, Austria, for the annual Executive of the Baptist World Alliance. We note that representatives of the Baptist Convention of Eastern Cuba, Santiago de Cuba, and of the Baptist Convention in Western Cuba, Havana, have not been per-mitted to attend, which hinders not only the work of the Baptist World Alliance but also handicaps the efforts of the Baptist World Alliance for world peace.

Bullen stated that members of the WCC and other groups have been allowed to attend those meetings, but for some reason our brothers were not allowed to come here.

Parnell MOVED the adoption of this Resolution concerning the absent Cubans. Seconded and carried.
