BWA General Council Resolution 1979.5

Recognizing the grave world shortages of oil and many other sources of energy,

We, the General Council of the Baptist World Alliance, urge on all governments and all members of our churches the need for careful and responsible husbanding of such resources, having in mind the effects of these shortages on the economies, especially of Third World countries and the requirements of succeeding generations.

This resolution was presented orally. The Committee was requested to present it the following day in written form for consideration by the General Council. This was done, in the absence of Chairman Akande, by David Russell.

MOTION by Russell was seconded. The Resolution on Sources of Energy was passed after discussion and modification.
