BWA General Council Resolution 1983.6

This Council expresses its deepest appreciation:

  • to the government of Argentina for its gracious welcome and its readiness to grant visas to all participants;
  • to the officers and churches of the Convenciòn Evangèlica Bautista Argentina for the careful preparations, warm welcome, generous hospitality and interpretation service;
  • and to the staff and officers of the Alliance for their loyal commitment and organization which have insured the success of the meetings. It shares the concern of the people of Argentina for all who are victims of the disastrous floods in the northeast, and commits itself to prayerful support and continued economic aid for them. It also looks forward with eager anticipations to the world conference of Baptist young people in July 1984, believing that this can be an effective contribution to international harmony and peace. It shares with the Baptist in other Christian groups in Argentina their encouragement at the Government’s commitment to establish a constitutional government within agreed terms. It prays with them that the new government which will be elected in October will establish justice based on love and respect for others, will ensure religious freedom, and will work to remove all obstacles that may hinder the free exercise of basic human rights. Finally this Council prays for God’s blessing on the nation of Argentina and upon the ministry and mission of the Convenciòn Evangèlica Bautista Argentina in the coming years.
