BWA World Congress Resolution 1985.3

We who have come together for many countries for this 15th Baptist World Congress 1985 praise God together for the good news of the Congress theme, “Out of Darkness into the Light of Christ.”

We believe this to be an essential message for this world stricken as it is with the darkness of death and disease, war and want, ignorance and unbelief, sin and disobedience.

Therefore we commend the theme of the Congress to all Conventions and Unions within the Baptist World Alliance.

We call upon them to encourage their churches to use the literature and programs of the Alliance committees and commissions as seems appropriate in their own context.

We stress the need to see, in the theme and sub-themes, material for preaching, teaching and bible study, a challenge to unceasing witness and evangelism wherever there is darkness in human life, and a reminder of the holy priesthood to which God has called us and which is to be fulfilled in our worship and service and, in the witness of word and action, for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
