Thank You for Sharing a Prayer
Standing Together with the People of Eastern Europe
Virtual Prayer Gathering
In our continuing response to the crisis in Eastern Europe, the Baptist World Alliance is issuing an invitation to Baptists worldwide to join in a unified hour of prayer at 10:00 a.m. EST on Monday, February 28, 2022. Click here to watch a recording of the session featuring an update from a Baptist leader in Ukraine as well as prayers lifted in multiple languages from across the globe.
The news from Eastern Europe is sobering. During a United Nations Security Council meeting related to the tensions along the Russian and Ukranian border, the sound of artillery rang out in cities across Ukraine. Ukranian leaders have shared that at least 40 people have died in the attacks and dozens of others have been wounded. As a full-scale invasion of Ukraine ensues, BWA General Secretary Elijah Brown shares an important update about the impact on Baptists in the region as well as how you can stand together with the global Baptist family in responding at this critical time.
The Path to Peace
A Video Update from the Streets of Kyiv
General Secretary Elijah Brown traveled to the region last week to provide spiritual encouragement and support of Baptist sisters and brothers who are uniting in prayer and advocating for peace.
“As brothers and sisters within a global Baptist family, we are all called to be both peacemakers and people of prayer,” says Brown. “As one Baptist family rooted in Jesus Christ as Lord, we bear witness to the biblical truth that ‘if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it.’ It is vital for Baptists around the world to stand with those who are suffering and to fervently pray for peace. We remain grateful for both Russian and Ukrainian Baptists who are part of the Baptist World Alliance and are demonstrating faithful Gospel witness in their communities.”
