The General Council of the Baptist World Alliance meeting in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada, July 2-7, 2001

OFFERS sincere thanks to the Baptists of Canada and the local congregations on Prince Edward Island for their warm welcome and generous hospitality;

ACKNOWLEDGES the gracious welcome to the Province of Prince Edward Island by the Honorable Pat Binns, premier, and His Worship, George McDonald, mayor of Charlottetown;

COMMENDS local arrangements committee chairman, Richard Coffin, the local arrangements committee and all those from First United Baptist Church of Charlottetown who have worked hard in preparing for the 2001 sessions of the General Council;

THANKS the churches of PEI for hosting pastors on July 1 and July 8; APPRECIATES the leadership of President Billy Kim and the vice presidents;

EXPRESSES gratitude to General Secretary Denton Lotz, staff members and all those who contributed to the successful nature of this General Council meeting; and

THANKS the management and staff of the Delta Prince Edward hotel for all their assistance.

This is the first statement of its kind released by the Executive Committee in over 40 years.
