L'Alliance Baptiste Mondiale (BWA) lance un appel urgent aux baptistes du monde entier pour qu'ils apportent une contribution significative \u00e0 l'aide d'urgence au N\u00e9pal.<\/p>\n

Depuis le 27 avril, on sait qu'au moins 3 617 personnes ont trouv\u00e9 la mort dans le violent tremblement de terre qui a frapp\u00e9 le N\u00e9pal le 25 avril. Plus de 6 500 personnes ont \u00e9t\u00e9 bless\u00e9es. On s'attend \u00e0 ce que ces chiffres augmentent.<\/p>\n

Jirman Rai, general secretary of the Nepal Baptist Church Council (NBCC), said many areas in the country have been severely affected. \u201cGorkha, Lunjung, Tanahun, Kapre, Sindhupalchowak, Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur districts are badly hit,\u201d Rai told the BWA.<\/p>\n

The disaster in Kathmandu, Nepal\u2019s capital, was especially severe. \u201cMany houses, temples and one old tower of Kathmandu were broken totally by the earthquake.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rai reported that there were a number of aftershocks. \u201cWhile writing this email another earthquake has struck,\u201d he said. \u201cI think this earthquake (aftershock) may bring more disaster to Nepal.\u201d<\/p>\n

Le NBCC, organisation membre de la BWA et principal partenaire de la r\u00e9ponse \u00e0 la catastrophe, est l'un des groupes chr\u00e9tiens qui conna\u00eet la croissance la plus rapide dans ce pays majoritairement hindou, avec environ 20 000 membres r\u00e9partis dans plus de 150 \u00e9glises.<\/p>\n
