1995 Baptist World Congress: Celebrate Christ, the Hope of the World

BWA General Council Resolution 1994.6

The General Council of the Baptist World Alliance meeting in Uppsala, Sweden from 18-24 July 1994:

ENDORSES preparations being made for the 17th Baptist World Congress to be held 1-6 August 1995 in Buenos Aires, Argentina;

RECOGNIZES the importance of sharing with Baptists and other Christians the theme of the Congress, “Celebrate Christ, the Hope of the World”;

REJOICES in the fact that Latin America has experienced the greatest growth among the world’s Baptists since 1932;

AFFIRMS the continuing priority of evangelism in the countries of Latin America;

URGES Baptists during the Congress to speak with a prophetic voice on issues of particular concern to Latin America including issues of justice, ecology, racism and world peace;

DECLARES that Jesus Christ is the basis for solutions to these and other issues confronting nations and individuals;

INVITES Baptists of the world to pray for one another and attend the Congress, to share their concerns and to gain a clearer vision of the needs of the world.
